Keeping Your Home Allergen-Free
Young woman changes house.
When you have nasal allergy symptoms year-round, you have to be alert to
everything in your environment, because it plays a big role in how severe your
nasal allergy symptoms may be.
If you find that your nasal allergy symptoms get worse whenever you're indoors,
either at work or at home, indoor allergens are probably the reason. The good
news is that there are steps you can take to help manage your environment and
reduce the impact it has on your nasal allergies!
Irritants such as tobacco smoke or fumes may trigger—or at least worsen—your
nasal allergy symptoms, as can allergens such as animal dander, dust, pollen,
and molds. Whether nasal allergy symptoms occur in the workplace, at home, or
in both places, they can interfere with your ability to function well. But if
you can get a handle on the things and events that trigger your nasal allergy
symptoms, you'll be taking an important step in your own self-management.
An Allergy Free Home
If you are unable to avoid your nasal allergy triggers and your nasal allergy
symptoms become too bothersome even when you are being treated appropriately
with medication, you may need to consider another line of work. Although not
every person will need to make this type of drastic change, your health is more
important than staying in a toxic environment.
Remember, if you have any questions about your nasal allergies or your treatment
plan, call your doctor right away. You can manage your nasal allergy
symptoms!
